The Starlight Gowns program is one biggest programs coming out of Starlight Children's Foundation. Through the inaugural Design-a-Gown contest launched in 2018, people from across America created their own hospital gown in hopes of their design becoming the next Starlight Gown that gets produced. Starlight Gowns make hospitalized kids feel like superstars by replacing unattractive, uncomfortable and embarrassing hospital garments with high-quality, comfortable and brightly-colored gowns. The gowns transform children into astronauts, princesses, cowboys, and other characters so they can have fun and enjoy being kids.
Starlight's corporate partner, Niagara Cares, funded the creation and distribution of 30,000 Starlight Gowns with the winning design. The tens of thousands of people who voted during the 2-month Design-a-Gown contest inspired Starlight and their partners so much that the organization decided to print 15,000 Starlight Gowns with the design of each runners up. That's a total of 60,000 new Starlight Gowns that ended up being given to hospitalized kids because of this contest.
